Finally, something is being done about the traffic on Stanley Avenue. We tried for years to do something including the no left turn sign. We have since moved south of Aberdeen but it's good to see things can be changed. Now about the condo monstrosity at Aberdeen and Dundurn.....

I was unable to attend this meeting but did attend the fall AGM. As I stated at this meeting, we all need to take ownership of our immediate neighbourhood, e.g. city block. Pick up litter, know your neighbours, be visible, walk around, deal with anti social behaviour directly (loud music, dog barking, etc) where safe to do so. Criminals like privacy and when we cocoon inside our homes, this is exactly what we are giving them.

Hi,
I bike from Glendside st through the golf course on the way to the new bike path going to Westdale. Unfortunately, someone keeps placing several branches across the foot path leading to the golf course. I find this is quite dangerous, especially for those biking/walking on the path in the evenings. People keep removing the branches, but they keep coming back. I am not sure if anyone can speak to this, but I'd appreciate knowing why people are doing this. I thought the golf course is public space and people can pass through the without obstacles in the way.

Thanks.

I am not sure if it is road rage to a certain degree or I have the right to complain ,but there is a real safety issue in our ward.I can not believe that the city is allowing the Tim Horton's on main just east of Dundurn to have a drive up window the back up on main on the right hand side" is a death trap waiting to happen" cyclists are forced in to the middle lanes where they are next to tempting involuntary suicide and this is only from a cyclists side. As a Motor vehicle driver with a very good divers abstract that drives that area I believe it posses as a very dangerous corner.
I believe that Brian Mccattie was politically correct to push for the rail trail expansion through the rail yards to Mcmaster , but it is not being promoted! .I know that it is not finished ,but it is currently safer than riding down Main Street during rush hour ,as someone is going to get hurt in that location in the near future, and is a issue that if taken to task quickly will more than likely save lives.Dundurn and Main is where attention in regards to traffic safety needs to be applied for Cyclists ,pedestrians and drivers .

Light Rail is great ! but why not make the current roads safer until that dream becomes a reality.

@ Anne P.

I agree about police monitoring traffic.Get them on the streets and let them 'hands on' deal with the deplorable etiquette of the modern driver.Every time my taxes go up, so more officers can be hired to baby-sit drunks downtown,I do a slow burn.

I've never been to any 'city',both N.American and European, that didn't have 'classic' traffic cops. They are necessary and perform a very valuable duty.Another thing to consider would be the 'corner' cop shop. Many euro cities have them.As a woman who has traveled alone,I can tell you that I have been in many tougher cities than the Hammer and never once felt uncomfortable or afraid.

Instead of all this money we have spent, over the years, to put lipstick on a dog, train it...stop blaming it.

I'd like to see the Queen Street mountain access closed down to pedestrian, bicycle, public transit and emergency traffic only.

We have enough mountain access and city bypass(Linc and Redhill). The Queen Street hill is literally falling down.More two-way and parking in this neighbourhood. This access is antiquated, not worth the money to fix and maintain it and being used out of force of habit only.

my new blue ladies bike got stolen right out of my shed on June 26th. be aware to lock up sheds ,garages and valuables ...don't leave coins visble in your car...people in need of money will do anything to steal it and they roam the streets in the wee hours to get it.
