Public Info Centre on Aerotropolis in Lower City

After originally planning only to hold public information centres on the Mountain, but given the amount of criticism the plan has come under, the City has added an additional PIC location in the lower city. Here are the details:

Airport Employment Growth District (AEGD) Public Information Centre

August 10, 2010, 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm
Scottish Rite, 4 Queen Street South between King & Main

The Airport Employment Growth District (AEGD) is a City led project developed to expand Hamilton’s employment opportunities and support projected population growth. All Ontario cities are tasked with increasing employment lands as outlined in a document called  Places to Grow. The City of Hamilton selected an area of land surrounding the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, now referred to as AEGD, to examine and develop a concentrated area of employment lands.

AEGD is being managed by both Planning and Economic Development Department (for its impact on the economy and zoning) and Public Works (research and development of Master Plans – Transportation Master Plan etc.).

A series of questions & answers and additional information is available from the city, and from Citizens at City Hall.

If you are unable to attend this meeting, please consider completing the survey at http://www.hamilton.ca/qegdsurvey.
