Call for volunteers: Food Drive coming in May

A note from our president, Mary Lou Reiman:

It’s that time again!  We are into planning for the 3rd annual ‘Fill a Bus, Feed a Family’ food drive in support of Mission Services. We have the list of things to do well organized but of course need people to do them. I have a list of specific things that we need help with to prepare for the event:

  • organization & distribution of flyers to Kirkendall residences (i.e.assigning areas to volunteers, not delivering all the flyers!)
  • seeking donations of money to support the drive (eg printing costs)
  • publicity and promotion
  • placement of lawn signs a week before the food drive

If you feel able to help in any of these areas, please let me know as soon as you can.

Of course we will need help on the day of the food drive, collecting food, taking a car where the bus is unable to negotiate and various jobs at the ‘control centre’ as well as distributing flyers a week or so before the drive.

Please let me know what you will do. If you have questions, by all means email me. Also if there are high school students in your life, you can remind them that helping with the food drive counts as community hours and there is a certificate to show that.

Thanks, Mary Lou
