At its annual general meeting, the KNA decided to set up a Committee to deal with issues raised by EH’s Kirkendall Walks program. Many members have participated, and we have identified a number of ways that the neighbourhood could be made more pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly. Other traffic issues have been raised as well. The new committee will seek strategies to get some positive changes implemented. Anyone interested in helping to make Kirkendall a better place to walk are invited to be part of the committee and to share ideas about what we can do.
A meeting place and time will be set up soon, but in the meantime please send a message by email to Derek Hrynyshyn, or call at (289) 396 0559.

Lets focus on a lower speed limit on Aberdeen with either speed bumps or a bigger police presense – Aberdeen is not pedestrian friendly as most cars coming off of Garth or Queen Street are racing to 403.

Thank you Mardi, We have beensaying since the entrance to 403 was opened. Aberdeen was a lovely quiet street, now it is a race way.

I agree with the comments about Aberdeen. It is a speedway in both directions. I can’t believe how fast folks drive when coming off the 403 onto Aberdeen and along there until Queen street. They have no regard for the fact that it is a residential neighbourhood – - especially the cars that are only using Abederdeen as a through fare. I don’t know if there is anything that can be done but pedestrian have to fight to cross the street at each of the four way stops at the intersection of Locke and Herkimer and Charleton and Locke – - is as if the cars are doing you a favour to allow you to walk there. I am surprised there have not been accidents there.
