A message from Brian McHattie’s office:
We’re assuming some of you have received a notice, but in case you didn’t, the West Town Bar & Grill had reactivated its liquor license application to the AGCO.
A hearing is now scheduled for October 12, 9:30 to review the application.
The hearing will be held at the Hamilton Convention Centre (1 Summers Lane). Anyone can attend. Note that “in the event that public objectors do not attend, the hearing will proceed to a conclusion”.
You can find out more about the appeal process at www.agco.on.ca. Specifically, there is a guide for residents here (PDF).
Note also, that if the West Town is granted a liquor license, it cannot get a patio license from AGCO unless the AGCO has received a copy of the patio agreement from the city.
The patio agreement can only be signed if the PWIE (Public Works, Infrastructure and Environment) Committee approves the patio application and if the West Town has applied for a variance for a side yard patio through the Committee of Adjustment. At this time, neither of these two things has happened.
(I have asked for clarification regarding whether the 9:30 time is in the morning or evening.)

The next Kirkendall Neighbourhood Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 20, at the Ryerson Recreation Centre (251 Duke Street – click for a map), at 7:00 PM. The meeting will run until 9:00 PM. All are welcome.
There should be some updates regarding the West Town at this meeting, among other business. We look forward to seeing you there!
